* POSITION SUMMARY:

** The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of assigned properties. Responsibilities include month-end close for assigned properties, reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis and assisting property management and accounting department with financial projects as needed.

* ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*** Accurately record income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis.
* Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and applicable income statement accounts to ensure accuracy.
* Assist Property Managers, Area Vice Presidents and Group Vice Presidents with variance reports included in monthly reporting package.
* Assist Property Managers, Area Vice Presidents and Group Vice Presidents with understanding overall financial performance.
* Prepare monthly bank statement reconciliations and promptly record any reconciling items.
* Process debt service, tax, insurance and capital expense payments and ensure/verify payments are made as required
* Responsible for daily cash management.
* Reconcile security deposit liability and assets accounts on a monthly basis.
* Maintains and organizes monthly property files with appropriate support documentation.
* Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned.
* Review accounting work performed by more junior team members and help to train more junior team members
** KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:*
* · Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Yardi, Entrata, and the internet.
· Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
· Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.

* QUALIFICATIONS:

*** Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
* Minimum of three years of property accounting experience
