Staff Accountant (Finance)

Buckhead Personal Injury Law Firm is currently recruiting for a full-time Staff Accountant. Qualified candidates must have at least five (5) or more years of accounting experience. This role is responsible for managing the financial and accounting tasks for the law firm, with key duties including trust account management (IOLTA), bookkeeping, client billing, and assisting with financial reporting, payroll, processing invoices, and tracking the firm’s financial health.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile IOLTA (IOLTA) trust accounts and other firm accounts.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and client invoices.
  • Manage payroll, expense tracking, and credit card statements.
  • Assist with preparing financial statements and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data to support firm management.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and compliant.
  • Help with general bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Maintain communication with vendors and departments (Marketing, Payroll, Settlement) to resolve invoice questions.
  • Keep vendor files up to date including W-9s, tax forms, and payment details.
  • Assist with AP reconciliations and reporting during month-end close.
  • Participate in AP cleanup and organization projects to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team to ensure departmental goals are met.
Requirements
  • Five years experience in related accounting field.
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills, ideally with experience in a law firm or personal injury practice.
  • Deep understanding of trust accounting principles and reconciliation procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail for accurate recordkeeping.
  • Superior time management and analytical skills.
  • Organizational and multi‑tasking skills a must.
  • Must be dependable, possess advanced problem‑solving skills, be detail oriented and have exceptional proofreading skills to verify accuracy of numbers.
  • Ability to communicate with coworkers, management team members and other individuals in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and prioritize work as necessary.
  • Team player.
  • Willingness to assist other team members when needed.
  • Above average PC skills:
    Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, such as Accounting Seed.
