Bridger Properties is searching for a Property Accountant that will be assigned to a prominent portfolio in Atlanta, GA. They must be able to act and react to situations that arise on a daily basis, representing the interests of owners and communicating with client(s) and team members in a professional manner.
As a Property Accountant, you will assist the accounting team in providing comprehensive financial support. You will hold an integral role within the accounting and property management teams, assisting with key accounting tasks to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for a portfolio of properties.
Essential Functions- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and support schedules for ownership reporting
- Calculate and post journal entries for recurring and non-recurring expense accruals
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Update Balance Sheet Reconciliations on a periodic basis for reporting and audit purposes
- Review and analyze the general ledger to ensure records are kept in compliance with GAAP (or another specified hybrid basis of accounting)
- Provide general support for the accounting and property management teams
- Code and review invoices in accordance with property budgets and company policies
- Prepare and post tenant billings in accounting software
- Review incoming tenant payments and post receipts in accounting software
- Work with property management teams to prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Assist and lead accounting and finance projects as needed, often involving cross-functional teams.
- Abstract tenant leasing and complete property configuration requests in accounting software
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required - Experience:
1+ year of accounting experience with commercial real estate experience preferred, but not required. - Industry Knowledge:
Understanding of real estate accounting principles, property management operations, and lease accounting - Analytical Acumen:
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights - Time Management:
Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with all levels of staff, senior management, and external clients - Technical Proficiency:
Advanced computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas). Extensive experience with property management accounting software;
Yardi experience is a significant plus - Ethical Standards:
