Assistant Controller (CPA)

A national insurance organization is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller (CPA) to support the Corporate Controller across technical accounting, reinsurance accounting, accounting policy, internal controls, and tax coordination
. This role is ideal for a Big 4 or National Firm Senior/Manager (Audit or Advisory) with insurance clients
, or an industry accounting leader looking for broader ownership in a complex, fast‑paced insurance environment.

Strong expertise in US GAAP
, particularly ASC 944 (Insurance Accounting), is critical.

• Lead technical accounting research and application
  , ensuring compliance with US GAAP (ASC 944) and regulatory requirements
• Support reinsurance, warranty, and insurance accounting activities
• Provide analytical support for monthly financial reporting packages
• Assist with the financial close process and preparation of financial disclosures
• Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies and procedures
• Support internal controls and coordination with tax and external auditors
• Partner closely with the Corporate Controller on complex accounting matters

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Active CPA license (credential and state(s) must be verifiable)
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong experience with US GAAP technical accounting
• Proven exposure to insurance, reinsurance, or warranty accounting

Base pay: $130,000‑$150,000 per year
