Sr. Accountant

Overview

Huber Engineered Materials is a family‑owned, privately held company that supplies specialty and commodity chemicals, hydrocolloid solutions, engineered wood products and natural resources to customers worldwide. With approximately $3 billion in sales and 4,000 employees, we operate in more than 20 countries.

Manages internal and external audit requirements by partnering across functions within Huber organization. Develops and implements solutions for internal control gaps. Month‑end close responsibilities include preparing journal entries and account analyses and reconciliations. Coordinates internal control, compliance, segregation of duties, and management of the Company’s Grants of Authority. Ensures compliance with local tax requirements and prepares company reporting with the Corporate Tax team.

• Execute monthly process to close Oracle Process Manufacturing, coordinating with plant controllers and IT to troubleshoot issues.
• Record and review monthly journal entries and accounting activities across inventory, accruals, and intercompany areas.
• Perform general account reconciliations and address reconciling items.

• Serve as liaison between accounting team members and internal and external auditors; assist with PBC schedules and provide leadership for audit deliverables and drafting PBC schedules.

• Maintain firm understanding of financial processes to assess potential control weaknesses or gaps.
• Perform controls to monitor Oracle segregation of duties risk and collaborate with IT to mitigate risks.
• Facilitate and oversee manual journal entry and account reconciliation reviews for plant accounting teams.
• Maintain the Company’s Grants of Authority schedule, recording changes within the ERP system.

• Prepare quarterly income tax provisions and other tax deliverables, accessing data from corporate tax team for IRS and external audits.
• Manage fixed‑asset tax subledgers and roll forwards for state and federal taxes by legal entity.
• Prepare annual depreciation, amortization, and depletion deductions for state and federal taxes.
• Prepare annual property tax returns for local jurisdictions.
• Prepare periodic sales/use tax filings and guide Purchasing and Accounting teams on tax treatment of purchases.
• Maintain business license renewals.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience with integrated ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
• Problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and with a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and flexibility with work assignments.
