Job Overview

As an Audit Senior Associate at Bennett Thrasher, you’ll collaborate with business owners and executives to identify risks, plan key transactions, and enhance the quality of critical decision‑making information. You will lead audit fieldwork, assign detailed tasks to staff, review work papers, and ensure high‑quality outcomes. Responsibilities
  • Develop effective working relationships with clients and firm associates
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and objectives, and utilize that knowledge throughout engagements
  • Communicate verbally and electronically with clients and firm associates
  • Analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Perform key risk audit procedures that require an appropriate understanding of account balances and related technical guidance
  • Prepare financial statements, including related disclosures, using firm resources
  • Plan and perform audits in accordance with BT audit methodology, delegating effectively to maximize engagement efficiency
  • Recognize potential audit issues from basic analysis, communicate them to the team, and propose solutions
  • Research technical areas and present conclusions prior to discussion with managers and partners
  • Support interns and staff in professional development and remain available throughout engagements
  • Manage staff effectively while in the field
  • Contribute and support new ideas on internal processes and client engagements
  • Provide timely work‑paper suggestions and coach associates through review notes
  • Collaborate with engagement team members and management to identify and resolve client issues discovered during engagements
  • Communicate performance, obstacles, and updates to management and the engagement team promptly
  • Give and receive feedback to minimize repeated errors and apply new concepts
  • Plan and perform operational and financial audits to ensure that financial statements are fairly presented in accordance with GAAP
  • Participate actively in training and development opportunities, as an attendee and/or facilitator
  • Take ownership of assignments to ensure timely completion and professional development
  • Participate in firm events year‑round, including recruiting, associate meetings, BT Foundation volunteer events, firm outings, and more
  • Actively study and prepare for the CPA certification
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree required; master’s preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of audit experience
  • Actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification if not already obtained
  • Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting, including firm, FASB, GASB, and AICPA accounting and auditing standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
  • Proven time‑management, organizational, and prioritization skills
