Community Nursery Nurse

About

The Role

Working across schools, nurseries, family homes and community settings, you’ll play a key role in delivering public health messages and supporting families within the Healthy Child Programme.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering health promotion messages within community settings
  • Providing advice to families on sleep routines, behaviour management, weaning, toilet training and home safety
  • Supporting breastfeeding mothers
  • Completing development reviews as part of the Universal Healthy Child Programme offer

    You’ll manage and prioritise your own workload, responding flexibly to daily changes while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

    What We’re Looking For

    You will hold one of the following (or equivalent):

    • BTEC National Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development
    • CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education
    • NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development

    You’ll also demonstrate:

    • A strong understanding of child development
    • Experience delivering advice to families on early years topics
    • Knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme
    • Confident presentation skills (face‑to‑face or virtual)
    • Excellent listening and observational skills
    • Ability to manage and prioritise a caseload independently
    • Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records
    • A compassionate, patient and non‑judgemental approach
    • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
