Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Investigating alleged breaches of planning control and unauthorised development, taking ownership of complex enforcement cases from start to resolution
- Preparing, issuing, and managing Planning Contravention Notices, Enforcement Notices, Requisition s for Information, and related documentation
- Processing enforcement-related planning applications and monitoring compliance with planning conditions and Section 106 Agreements
- Preparing written evidence and presenting expert testimony at appeals, hearings, public inquiries, and court proceedings
- Conducting interviews in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and liaising with the Council's Legal Services
- A relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- Significant experience working in a planning enforcement role within a local authority
- A full, valid driving licence and access to transport for work purposes
- Strong knowledge of planning enforcement legislation and procedures
- Experience presenting evidence at appeals, hearings, or court proceedings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage a complex caseload independently and meet deadlines
- Experience working collaboratively across internal departments
