Position Overview:The Packaging Engineer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing packaging solutions for products. Their responsibilities ensure that products are protected during transportation, storage, and handling while also considering factors such as cost, sustainability, and compliance with regulations.
What you will do:- Develop and design packaging for new products.
- Lead and manage CAPA process related to packaging and manufacturing.
- Create prototypes, provide packaging rationales, and conduct tests to ensure packaging meets all requirements.
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate packaging design with product design.
- Choose appropriate materials, packaging styles, and methods for packaging based on product requirements, sustainability goals, and cost considerations.
- Work with suppliers to source materials that meet the necessary specifications.
- Analyze and improve packaging processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles in packaging operations.
- Develop eco-friendly packaging solutions to reduce environmental impact.
- Stay updated on sustainable packaging trends and integrate them into packaging strategies.
- Ensure packaging and temporary deviations complies with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Manage the qualification procedure for a process affected by changes in VMP, manufacturing issues and new manufacturing equipment related to packaging.
- Lead qualification efforts for alternative materials in case of shortages.
- Maintain detailed documentation of packaging specifications, test results, and regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with marketing, logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain, and CPS teams to ensure packaging aligns with overall business goals.
- Support sales teams by providing technical expertise on packaging solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field required.
- 5+ years of packaging design experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Previous experience with ISO, ASTM, and ISTA packaging standards is encouraged.
