Description

Patient Care Technician - Medical / Surgical-PRN position available. Core competencies for the position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide for the individual rights of patients receiving services of the medical center.
• Provide direct observation of the patient s physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs as they relate to the patient s age.
• Provide appropriate nursing care based on the individual patient s needs, as directed by the RN/LPN.
• Provide healthcare education, as directed by the RN/LPN, to patients and/or families in response to identified educational needs.
• Provide continuity of care by enlisting the services of other healthcare team members to plan a timely and trouble-free discharge to the level of care appropriate to the patient s condition.
• Manage the patient s care to ensure patient safety.
• Manage the patient s environment of care and care to ensure environmental safety.
• Manage time and supplies efficiently in the care of the patient to ensure cost-effective and efficient use of resources.
• Communicate pertinent information to appropriate individuals in the management of nursing care.
• Accurately document the activities of patient care in the patient record in a complete and timely manner.
• Possess necessary knowledge of patient information systems, equipment use/cleaning/trouble-shooting, and isolation techniques to ensure availability of information, safe equipment use, and appropriate infection control in the medical center setting.

• HS diploma or GED
• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Nursing student OR completion of licensed nursing assistant program, preferred
• On-the-job precepting/coaching available
