Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline by the start date.
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in engineering practice and/or engineering education.
- Demonstrated commitment to effective teaching and student success.
- Four or more years of engineering (or closely related) professional experience.
- One or more years of college-level teaching experience.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Ability to teach a range of fundamental mechanical engineering courses.
- Experience mentoring student organizations and design/competition teams.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction position. This is a nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026. Renewal is based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. The successful candidate will be student-centered and an innovative educator who will teach undergraduate mechanical engineering courses in support of rising enrollments and program growth.
The ability to teach across fluids and thermal systems, controls and mechatronics, materials, design, and related laboratory courses is desired, commensurate with expertise. Instruction will primarily be in person on Ohio University’s main campus in Athens, Ohio.
Pay Rate:
Commensurate with experience and credentials.
