Instructor of Anthropology, Part‑time, Non‑tenure‑track (Pool Posting)
The Department of Sociology & Anthropology at Ohio University seeks to fill temporary, part‑time Instructor of Anthropology positions for the academic year 2025‑2026. Potential courses include undergraduate sections of Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (ANTH 1010), Introduction to Biological Anthropology (ANTH 2010), or Introduction to World Archaeology (ANTH 2020). If a need arises, the department will select candidates from this pool. Applicants may be considered for instruction on the Athens campus, other regional campuses, or online, depending on departmental needs.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate sections of the courses listed above.
- Provide three hours of in-class instruction per class per week and an additional hour per week for office hours on campus, or equivalent online instruction.
- Develop and maintain course syllabi, assignments, and assessments.
- Grading and communicating student performance.
- Participate in department meetings and professional development as required.
- Minimum: ABD in Anthropology or closely related field at the time of application.
- Preferred:
PhD in Anthropology or a closely related field. - Experience as an independent instructor (full instructional and gradebook responsibility) of a relevant university‑level course.
- Focus of the degree or training in the subfield to be taught.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
