Materials Handler II
Position Summary:
Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies. Incumbents perform many of the same duties as a Materials Handler I, but are distinguished in that incumbents exercise decision making and independent judgment due to a broader knowledge of the materials handling operation and provide on‑the‑job training and problem solving to others.
May need to lift heavy objects. Work also involves the operation, closing and cleaning of facilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Commissary Kitchen Manager and is evaluated by observation and in terms of customer reaction.
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of warehousing and inventory control. Computer literate.
Duties / Responsibilities- Unloads and unpacks incoming food and other supplies.
- Issues food and supplies, weighs and measures as indicated on order.
- Keep the storeroom premises clean and dispose of rubbish.
- Performs routine clerical tasks.
- Other tasks performed as assigned by management.
- Assists in keeping a perpetual inventory of stock as it is received and issued; places items on shelves, assists in taking periodic inventories of stock. Records items received in computer.
Heavy lifting up to 100 pounds. Perform physical activity; move loads up to 100 lbs., unloading and stocking products; perform push/pull activity with products weighing up to 50 lbs.; perform duties with repetitive motion of wrists, arm, and shoulder, possess hand and finger coordination; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, and kneel; and work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors.
Work long hours standing. Work in various temperature conditions.
