Plumber, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
Plumber II responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in unified government buildings. Reports to Operations Coordinator.
Responsibilities- Train and schedule inmate crews for plumbing work
- Perform technical plumbing tasks: adapt, implement blueprints, sketch layouts, order supplies, install fixtures, repair or replace pipes and fixtures
- Analyze scheduling needs, establish work standards, production controls, job priorities, preventive maintenance schedules
- Perform preventive maintenance on existing plumbing fixtures, inspect and initiate work orders
- Maintain records, files, reports related to plumbing activities
- Install, test, and repair backflow prevention devices
- Inspect plumbing to ensure code standards are met, maintain tools and equipment, keep adequate inventory of parts and supplies
- Respond to emergency service requests as participant in division “on-call” program
- Vocational or technical diploma in plumbing with three years of experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Valid driver’s license
- State of Georgia Master Plumber Class II license
- Backflow Device Technician Certification or ability to obtain within one year
- Criminal background indicating eligibility to supervise inmates
- Security training for supervising inmate workers within six months of hire
- Some supervisory experience preferred
Must be physically able to operate machinery and equipment, use body members to work, move or carry objects, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally or 20 pounds frequently. Medium work level.
