The purpose of this job is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components associated with the operation and maintenance of Athens-Clarke County electrical systems, equipment and components. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, installing and repairing existing electrical systems, performing new wiring projects, inspecting equipment for code compliance, performing preventative maintenance, maintaining records, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Work Schedule
:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Subject to call back after hours and weekends. May occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours. Subject to On-call schedule. May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Vocational or Technical Diploma with two years of electrical construction experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Valid driver's license required. Possession of a Georgia State Unrestricted Electrical Contractor's License is preferred. One year of supervisory experience preferred as applicable for assigned Department.
Responsibilities- Design and install, repair, and maintain new and existing electrical equipment, power circuits, control circuits, and lighting circuits, including three phase power systems and analog and digital motor control circuits.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, and blueprints.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Use volt‑ohm meters, current meters, watt‑hour meters, phase rotation meters, and megometers.
- Use infra‑red temperature gauge in diagnosis of electrical equipment and HVAC systems.
- Repair and replace lighting fixtures for all buildings and facilities for Athens-Clarke County.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for all equipment and maintain related records.
- Operate and maintain generators.
- Operate various types of heavy equipment such as ditching machines, bucket trucks, and backhoes.
- Inspect and maintain theft and fire alarm systems, telecommunication and data system cables and connections.
- Coordinate work with various contractors and inspect new electrical installations for code compliance. Maintain inventory of supplies and parts, ordering replacements when needed.
- Maintain, repair, and calibrate flow meters and sampling devices.
- Respond to emergency service requests as a participant in division's on‑call program.
- Work closely with other Maintenance personnel on multi‑craft projects.
- Maintain records and file reports pertaining to work assignments. Perform other duties as required.
