Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Statistics or Mathematics, Data Science, Public Administration or related field.
- Georgia POST certification in Crime Analysis or related certification from another state.
- 2+ years of experience with data collection, management, and reporting in a law enforcement agency or organization.
- Experience with GIS
The Crime Analyst I supports campus safety by delivering tactical, strategic, and administrative analysis using crime data and information from various sources. Under supervision, this entry-level position assists in strengthening case investigations, identifying patterns affecting the university community, and guiding the deployment of police resources to enhance safety and security across campus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret campus crime, incident, and call-for-service data to identify trends and support operational planning.
- Ability to prepare basic crime maps, charts, and visual summaries using GIS and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to produce clear, concise written reports and communicate analytical findings to sworn personnel, administrators, and campus partners.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive law enforcement and student information in accordance with FERPA and departmental policies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in the university policing environment, managing multiple assignments and pivoting as needed.
This position may involve long hours sitting at a computer terminal.
