B.S. or M.S. in biology, biomedical sciences, or related disciplines.
Position SummaryCandidates in this full-time position will serve as the research assistants in the Liu lab affiliated with the Center for Neurological Disease Research, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, and Department of Biomedical Sciences. The NIH-funded research projects in the Liu lab target cellular to system level mechanisms of signal processing in the brain for the sense of smell in normal physiological conditions or pathological conditions including neurodegeneration and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
The incumbents will participate in animal-based experimental activities including survival and non-survival animal surgeries, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, physiological recordings, data collection and analysis, data presentation and project reports, technique development and execution, or other assignments from the supervisor or PI. Prior experience or skills in performing animal-based research including stereotaxic neurosurgeries, tissue sectioning, immunohistochemical studies, electrophysiological recordings, confocal imaging, or behavioral tests in rodents will be considered as core competencies.
