The Co‑Manager (CM) is responsible for leading through Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision & values in order to develop a high‑performing team that consistently delivers top‑line sales growth for the store. The CM leads the Operations Manager (OM) and is accountable for all operational aspects of a single retail store. This position provides a developmental experience for leaders who demonstrate potential to do more.
This leader drives their store’s business through a focus on performance (sales, service, & expense control), people (talent acquisition, training & development), and process (operating procedures & compliance standards). This position requires a passion for process excellence, a drive for results, and the ability to lead, influence, & develop the team.
Duties & Responsibilities
The CM is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, & values and should demonstrate them skillfully and consistently by performing the following duties and responsibilities of the position (as well as all other projects/duties as assigned):
Performance- Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed the store’s goals related to retail & service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), payroll, omni‑channel, & retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty for the store.
- Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth, & expense control.
- Leverage store forecast & payroll budgets to support with store scheduling needs and communicate the needs to the GM to maximize productivity, achieve sales & payroll goals, & complete workload (e.g., shipment, replenishment, cycle counts, DIFs, RTVs, planograms, inventory, & ad set processes) on time, and within payroll budget.
- Review, analyze, & react to Ulta Beauty’s financial & operational reporting, including store visit & audit results, regularly and in a timely manner.
- Leverage company programs, tools, & resources to drive improvements to meet Ulta Beauty’s goals for the store.
- Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, & product demonstrations with guests to drive sales & guest service experience.
- Take the initiative to stay informed regarding new & existing industry trends, products, & services during work time & be knowledgeable about the ingredients & benefits of these trends, products, & services to better serve guests.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance as the CM and hold store associates accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.
- Attract, hire, & retain a diverse team of top talent, and efficiently address any staffing needs & open positions for the store.
- Build a highly engaged team at the store that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through effective collaboration, open & honest communication, & prioritization of work.
- Create an inclusive environment that inspires & encourages the growth & engagement of associates.
- Support all aspects of manager & associate professional development, including training, providing individualized competency‑based feedback & coaching, performance reviews, succession planning, & individual development plans to enable continuous development & drive sales performance.
