Duties/Responsibilities

Fieldwork – 60% of time.

Lab work – 20% of time.

Data entry – 20% of time.

Position Summary

This position will involve working on field and lab research projects for Forest Health and Silviculture labs. The position is stationed at the UGA Forest Health Lab on the UGA Tifton Campus. Primarily fieldwork in south Georgia, with opportunities to work on many different projects and gain skills in data collection, data entry, and lab skills. Tasks will include fieldwork, data entry in Excel, taking precise field measurements, cataloging samples, collecting samples, rating insect damage, etc.

May include some overnight travel. Possibility for extension past August.

Preferred Education:

Some undergrad or an undergraduate degree.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or

Competencies:

Interest or familiarity with insects, silviculture, or natural resources.

Physical Demands:
Work outdoors for extended periods in adverse weather conditions, including extreme humidity and heat, possibly encountering stinging insects, and other wildlife including snakes. Traverse over uneven terrain through thick vegetation. Maintain a high level of data quality collection in these conditions. Lift 40 lbs. Driving as needed.
