- Assist in plot layout, planting, and maintenance of peanut field plots during the growing season and harvest during the harvest season (40%).
- Assist in measuring, preparing small amounts of fungicides for leaf spot control experiments, and in-field mixing during the application process (30%).
- Assist in disease evaluation of field plots, recording and filing hard copies of data sheets (20%).
- Assist in drying and weighing yield bags, obtaining grade samples, shelling peanut grade samples, and evaluating samples (10%).
This position will assist with peanut white mold and nematode field and greenhouse experiments during the growing and harvest season. The job includes plot layout, planting, treatment preparation and application, plot maintenance, disease evaluations, and first‑level data management such as copying, filing, and providing copies to the primary investigator.
QualificationsHigh school diploma preferred.
Physical DemandsStanding, lifting, enduring outside elements for long periods, performing in‑state travel to UGA research stations and on‑farm research/demo sites. Operate farm machinery and peanut shelling/grading equipment, work safely with registered and experimental pesticides, handle bags of harvested peanuts (up to 40 pounds), and drive as needed.
