Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Post‑Doctoral Fellow to join our team in the Non‑Infectious Disease department located in Athens, GA. This position is part of the global Boehringer Ingelheim Post‑Doctoral Program (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..boehringer‑‑doc/. As a Post‑Doctoral Fellow, you will be a primary driver of innovative research projects focused on the disease biology of immune and fibrotic related diseases in pets.
Identification of disease characteristics and disregulation will support discovery and development of novel approaches to treat focal diseases in pets. Strong skills in molecular biology, bioinformatic analysis and in‑vitro modeling will be a foundation for this project. Post‑Doctoral Fellows are expected to independently conduct research and publish findings in peer‑reviewed scientific journals. - Takes full responsibility for a research project, with guidance from experienced mentors with extensive background in academia and industry.
- Provides input to create, organize, and execute a research project in filarial host‑pathogen interactions.
- Works collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Publishes results in peer‑reviewed scientific journals and presents data at scientific conferences.
- Complies with all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner and maintaining proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies.
- PhD degree or equivalent in Molecular, Cellular or Biochemistry or similar field, with good publications record.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to design and execute experimental strategy to advance projects.
- Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated creativity and initiative in driving cutting edge research.
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands‑on experience in bioinformatic analysis of single cells or spatial transcriptiomic data and Immunology is a plus.
- Good knowledge of scientific area of responsibility.
- Ability to ask critical scientific questions.
- Ability to synthesize new hypotheses and critique devised hypotheses.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
