- Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge in wildlife management or closely related field; interest in game bird management and ecology; prior telemetry, field research, and computer experience; understanding of consumptive wildlife management practices; positive attitude and willingness to be a team player; prior experience working with Northern Bobwhites; prior experience with radio-telemetry.
We are seeking one Research Assistant to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio-telemetry tracking, nest monitoring, and other associated fieldwork as part of a larger experimental study. Responsibilities include data entry, equipment maintenance, and other duties upon request of the supervisors. Incumbent will have opportunities to interact directly with the grant sponsor. Technicians will work with minimal supervision on site and should be comfortable working independently (even after dark).
Housing will be provided.
- Trapping and tagging bobwhites using baited walk-in funnel traps — Percentage of time: 40%
- Tracking Bobwhites using radio telemetry — Percentage of time: 40%
- Vegetation surveys — Percentage of time: 10%
- Travel around field site — Percentage of time: 5%
- Data entry and equipment maintenance — Percentage of time: 5%
Comfortable working independently and after dark. Driving as needed to perform job duties.
