Position Summary

Seeking Research Technician to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio‑tracking, and nest monitoring of Northern Bobwhite, as part of larger experimental studies. Data entry, equipment maintenance, and various duties will be needed. Selected individuals will also gain opportunities to interact directly with Texas DPW and private landowners. Employees will work with minimal supervision and should be comfortable working independently. Previous experience with radio‑telemetry and point counts is desired.

Experience with Microsoft Excel, databases and ArcGIS is desired. Applicants should be comfortable working alone after dark and in areas where venomous snakes could be present. Applicants should be capable of lifting up to 25 lbs for brief periods and may work in inclement weather.

  • Tracking Quail (30%)
  • Vegetation and acoustic surveys, other duties as assigned (10%)

Qualifications
  • An interest in game bird management and ecology.
  • A positive attitude and ability to be a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience pulling trailers.
  • Experience with safe operation of 4WD vehicles.
  • Previous gamebird work experience.
  • Previous telemetry, बैंक research, and computer experience.
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 25 lbs for brief periods.
  • Work in inclement weather.
  • Driving required.
