The lab is in the new UGA Interdisciplinary STEM research building and is funded by competitive grants including several NIH R01s, DoD, and CDC. The research focuses on biomaterials, polymer science, blood‑surface interactions, antimicrobial surfaces, anti-fouling surface, and controlled delivery of therapeutic agents (e.g., nitric oxide). The team studies the biocompatibility of medical devices such as insulin delivery systems, catheters, extracorporeal circulation, hemocompatibility, and antimicrobial surfaces.
Responsibilities- Fabricate and optimize hemocompatible and antimicrobial biomaterials (40%)
- In vitro characterization of biomaterials and polymers (30%)
- Proposal writing and data reports (20%)
- Mentoring and supervising graduate students (10%)
