Position Summary: Seeking a Research Technician to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio‑tracking, and nest monitoring as part of larger experimental studies. Responsibilities include data entry, equipment maintenance, fieldwork operations, and coordination with Kansas DWP and private landowners. Independent work, evening and dusk activities, and the ability to handle limited supervision are required. Previous experience with radio‑telemetry, point counts, Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS is preferred.

Duties

/ Responsibilities
  • Fieldwork:
    Lift up to 25 lbs, drive between sites, operate 4WD vehicles and equipment, work inclement weather (40% of time)
  • Quail tracking (30% of time)
  • Data entry and database management (10% of time)
  • Equipment maintenance and repair (10% of time)
Qualifications
  • Degree in wildlife management or related field (or pursuing one)
  • Experience with radio telemetry, point counts, and field research
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, databases, and ArcGIS
  • Ability to work independently after dark and in potentially hazardous environments
  • Positive attitude and teamwork skills
  • Experience pulling trailers and operating 4WD vehicles is preferred
Physical Demands

Lift up to 25 lbs for brief periods, work in inclement weather, and drive between sites.
