Position SummaryThis position is for a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Infectious Diseases, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia. The applicant will lead animal studies in compliance with the Guide and OLAW regulations, develop AUPs, and pursue approval with the institutional IACUC. The applicant is expected to work closely with Prof. Frederick Quinn (PI) and assist him with grant writing, as well as pursue extramural funding.
The applicant is expected to develop and sustain an independent research program and train the next generation of mycobacteriologists. The applicant is encouraged to contribute to training and teaching graduate-level courses in the department and serve as a graduate thesis committee member. The applicant will collaborate with other PIs within the Emory/Georgia TRAC program.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:
The applicant should have >15+ years of research experience with mycobacterial species focusing on pathogenesis, transmission, biomarker characterization for diagnostics and vaccine development, drug discovery studies, and working with a variety of animal models in an ABSL
-3 environment.
