Position SummaryThis is a manual, labor-type grounds position operating mowers, lawn edgers, backpack blowers, and other handheld equipment. Job includes maintenance of equipment and buildings as assigned, and necessary record keeping.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies- Competencies in grounds maintenance, manual, and mechanical work.
- Manual labor including lifting, pushing, and pulling regardless of weather conditions.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties.

Duties/Responsibilities- Maintain site grounds, including various types of gardens, according to maintenance schedules and policies and procedures.
- Care and maintenance of equipment, grass areas, shrubs, trees, and other plants; perform equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
- Work under the direction of a supervisor with some independent judgment; adherence to departmental policies is required.
- Assist in planning, assigning, and scheduling grounds crews for construction, maintenance, and care of site grass areas, shrubs, trees, and other plants.
- Demonstrate and teach proper work methods and techniques to employees as directed by supervisor.
- Supervise volunteer labor as needed.
- Prepare various reports and perform related work as necessary.
- Maintain inventories of pesticides, fertilizers, plants, and grounds items.
- 75% – Duties/Responsibilities as above
- 10% – Supervisory/teaching and coordination tasks
- 5% – Reporting and inventory management
- Additional reporting as necessary to support operations.
