Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide intermediate animal care to patients: water, feed, transport, restrain, groom.
  • Administer medication, monitor vital signs, and collect samples (blood or urine).
  • Establish effective working relationships with senior veterinary staff and assist with animal care.

Percentage Of Time: 50

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assist with all aspects of the patient’s treatment and care; maintain knowledge of the patient’s medical condition, treatment, prognosis, and plan.
  • Inform attending clinician of any changes or deterioration in the patient’s condition promptly.

Percentage Of Time: 30

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Stock supplies of cleaning products and patient care equipment.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and sanitation of cages and floors.

Percentage Of Time: 20

Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience within a general animal healthcare setting working with various species;
    Rabies vaccination preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
  • Properly handle and restrain various species of animals.
  • Effective communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of confidentiality and customer service, and to provide teaching and consultation as needed.
  • Proficient in prioritizing and completing treatments and patient care duties in a timely manner.
Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Sit, stoop, and bend intermittently on hard floor surfaces.
  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment; wear protective gear as required.
  • Work with animals and in environments involving bodily fluids and open wounds.
