Position SummaryThis position provides direct supervision over part‑time, temporary labor engaged in routine grounds work. Work includes responsibility for supervising and participating in the work of labor crews engaged in the maintenance of shrubs, flower beds, and turf. Work also includes landscaping around facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that workers are promptly on the job with necessary tools and equipment.
Specific work assignments are received at the beginning of each day and occasionally throughout the day as the need arises. Work is reviewed through regular inspections and by observation of results obtained.
Be well versed on hazards & safety precautions in general labor and maintenance work. Be familiar with various types of grounds keeping equipment.
Responsibilities- Participates in grounds maintenance, pest management, and landscape activities (50%)
- Helps supervise some of the labor crew engaged in grounds maintenance and landscaping activities (26%)
- Oversees and/or participates in the application of pesticides and/or fertilizers on the UGA at Griffin Campus (5%)
- Reviews work performed by labor crews accomplishing grounds maintenance and landscape activities (5%)
- Demonstrates and teaches techniques on proper use of equipment used on grounds maintenance and landscaping activities (5%)
- Performs related work as necessary, drives a dump truck & operates light construction equipment, supervises assembly and moving of grounds furniture (9%)
