  • Radio telemetry (45%)

  • ARU maintenance (10%)
  • Position Summary

    Assist with a project on wild turkey reproductive ecology, focusing on turkey movements, nesting, and brood rearing related to hunting. Tasks include nest monitoring, radio telemetry, habitat sampling, acoustic surveying, and data recording. The role involves working independently and in small crews in the Savannah River Site, Aiken, SC.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • B.S. in wildlife ecology or related field
    • Experience with radio telemetry and wildlife tracking
    Knowledge & Skills
    • Experience with GIS
    • Interpersonal skills for interaction with U.S. Forest Service personnel
    • Ability to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends
    • Experience with operating 4WD vehicles
    • Experience with vegetation sampling and climbing tree stands (fear of heights not permitted)
    Physical Demands

    Work in early mornings in adverse weather, lift up to 50 lbs, operate 4WD vehicles, and use climbing tree stands.
