RN - Nurse Residency Unit, Nights

Location:

Piedmont Athens – Med Surg 6, Nurse Residency Unit. Full‑time nights shift (7 pm to 7 am). Sign‑on bonus available.

The 20‑bed Nurse Residency Unit (NRU) serves seven med/surg units and hosts three cohorts of new graduate nurses each year. The NRU provides a structured learning environment and hands‑on experience with experienced preceptors, equipping new nurses with a solid clinical foundation before they transition to their home units.

• Provide nursing care to patients from birth through the life cycle, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
• Maintain standards of practice and coordinate patient‑care activities for assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.
• Serve as a student nurse educator, supporting residents and ensuring adherence to the policies and procedures of Piedmont.
• Assist in determining patient ratios based on volume and acuity; adapt ratios for extenuating circumstances.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• New graduates eligible for this position.
• Current RN license in the State of Georgia (or NLC/eNLC multistate license).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred:
  Advanced certification in the specialty area (if applicable).
• Preferred:
  One year of hospital nursing experience for PRN availability.
• Preferred:
  Hospital nursing experience for residency rotation.
