IMI is seeking a full-time Fabricator local to the Athens, GA area.

• Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
• Hammer, chip, and grind work pieces in order to cut, bend and straighten metal.
• Layout and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met.
• Locate and mark work pieces bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
• Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to work pieces, using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.
• Move parts into position, manually or by using hoists and cranes.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches and hand tools.
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, and/or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.
• Straighten warped or bent parts, using sledges, hand torches, straightening presses, or bulldozers.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.
• Setup face blocks, jigs, and fixtures.
• Smooth workpiece edges, and fix taps, tubes, and valves.
• Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements and task sequences.
• Tack-weld fitted parts together.
• Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
• Must be able to tig weld for stainless.

• 1-3 years' experience
• NCCER certification or completion of a related program through an accredited technical school.

• Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods of time.
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
