Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Student Care & Outreach, the Assistant Director oversees case management operations related to student well‑being and degree completion, including supervision of professional staff and coordination of data‑informed retention and intervention efforts. This position serves as a key member of the SCO leadership team, representing the office on university‑wide initiatives and committees such as the Connect and Complete Advisory Board.
Additionally, the position oversees assessment and data review efforts related to degree completion and well‑being interventions, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities for student success and holistic support.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
- Masters Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Social Work, or related field.
- Prior case management, assessment, and retention experience in a higher education setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work successfully individually and as a member of a team
- Proven ability in developing effective working relationships with university students, faculty, staff, administrators and the community
- Possess a strong work ethic and ability to be adaptable
- Knowledge of student development, retention strategies, and student well‑being best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to use data to guide decision‑making and assess program effectiveness.
- Available to work flexible shifts, evenings and weekends, as needed
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Student Care & Outreach (SCO), managing referrals and providing direct outreach and coordinated support to students, families, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to connect students with appropriate resources, including coordination with the Office of Student Financial Aid for emergency fund requests and other financial interventions.
- Facilitate the hardship withdrawal process and other university procedures to support students navigating complex academic or personal circumstances.
- Maintain accurate case documentation and records within the Advocate database in compliance with university, state, and federal standards; generate reports as needed to support assessment and retention initiatives.
- Directly supervise one full‑time case manager and student staff supporting case management and outreach functions.
- Actively promote and participate in the development, retention, & engagement of each staff member.
- Serve as a member of the SCO leadership team, providing input on office strategy, case consultation, and workflow optimization.
- Collaborate with the Director and other staff to enhance the case management function of the office, ensuring high‑quality, consistent service delivery.
- Oversee all assessment and evaluation processes for Degree Completion Team and Data Review Team meetings, including coordination with the Well‑being Data Review Team.
- Utilize data to inform strategic interventions, program improvements, and well‑being initiatives.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards tracking student support outcomes and trends related to student retention and success.
- Lead efforts to integrate assessment findings into broader campus well‑being and student success initiatives.
- Serve as a member of the Connect and Complete Advisory Board, representing Student Care & Outreach and contributing to institutional strategies that promote degree completion.
- Represent SCO in campus committees and cross‑divisional initiatives that advance well‑being, care, and retention efforts.
- Build and maintain partnerships with the Office of Instruction and other units to strengthen coordinated student support services.
