Description
Position Summary:
The Social Worker will work in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals to enhance the patient services offered in St. Mary s Hospital s Emergency Department through identifying, evaluating, and development of care plans, based on individual patients needs for improved patient outcomes. The social worker must have in-depth knowledge of system and community resources and referral agencies. The social worker may also provide assistance to patients, families and others with a wide variety of needs to include, but not limited to, life care planning, financial concerns and/or emotional problems related to chronic and acute illnesses.
Provides supportive counseling to patients regarding adjustments to illness as well as other psychosocial needs as indicated.

Position Requirements
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Holds a current Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. BLS required.
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of social work, with a minimum of a Master of Social Work
- Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in social work, with 2 years in a medical outpatient or hospital setting preferred.

Qualifications:
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills. - Degree of Supervision
Required:
Indirect and periodic supervision. Must be capable of working independently. - Ages Of Patients Served: This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in her assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care might be gained through education, training, or experience.
