- Ability to prioritize with meeting deadlines and tasks as business demands dictate.
- Exceptional computer skills.
This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Small Animal Emergency Front Desk staff. Responsibilities include preparing monthly work and on-call schedules to provide appropriate coverage Sunday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. The role leads initiatives to support and improve the overall client experience with emergency service and works with the financial services department to ensure charges and payments are captured and recorded correctly by the Emergency/Critical Care front desk team.
The position involves processing and delivering client messages to medical staff to ensure efficient communication. This is a working supervisor position and may be scheduled within shift rotations to augment services provided by the emergency front desk.
- Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a calm, professional manner during challenging circumstances.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and ability to perform arithmetic computations accurately and rapidly.
- Ability to maintain effective collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and aptitude to learn other programs such as Vetview.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to operate and maintain a multi-line phone system and common office equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Ability to use critical decision-making skills to ensure efficient daily operations of the front desk.
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds (assisted and unassisted).
- Sit for long periods and perform repetitive actions during the workday.
- Movement on uneven surfaces is common.
- Maintain attention to detail and organize information for decision-making.
- Bending/stooping to shelve and organize medical files.
