Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary

This position will serve as the lab manager/research technician for the research lab of Dr. Anumantha G Kanthasamy in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology. The lab conducts NIH-funded basic research on neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory mechanisms in cell culture and preclinical mouse models of Parkinson’s disease and related neurological disorders. The lab’s translational research focuses on biomarker discovery and testing novel therapeutics in preclinical models.

Responsibilities
  • Experimental design and execution; assay optimization and validation; data collection; project management.
  • Prior experience with mouse work; perform multiple behavioral, neurobiochemical and histological assays.
  • Organize and assist in implementation of research projects including data collection and project management.
  • Read and develop basic understanding of research project protocols; maintain accurate records.
  • Proper disposal of biohazard waste; inventory and basic maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate with investigators and colleagues regarding workflow, timing, and project status; maintain a positive attitude and calm demeanor in stressful situations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
