Position SummaryThe Department of Environmental Health Science and Institute of Gerontology in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position with an emphasis in instruction in environmental health, One Health, and aging. This is an academic year appointment (9 months) with an opportunity to supplement salary during the summer. The anticipated starting date for the positions is August 1, 2026.
The successful candidates will be jointly appointed between the Department of Environmental Health Science (25%) and the Institute of Gerontology (75%), with an opportunity to work with the Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) Center. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 24 credit-hours of instruction per year (4 courses per semester), including online courses. Opportunities for advising Institute practicum students can contribute to the teaching load.
Primary duties include teaching and service. Engagement in public service activities and serve on departmental, college and university-wide committees.
This position will fill critical instructional and training needs in interdisciplinary One Health and Brain Health through established (and growing) undergraduate programs (i.e., the BS EHS major and EHS and Gerontology minors) and graduate degrees (i.e., MS and PhD EHS and Toxicology, MPH concentrations in Gerontology and EHS, and graduate certificate Gerontology).
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, And/or CertificationMinimum Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in environmental health, gerontology, neurobiology, neuroscience, or a related discipline (e.g., biology, environmental science, public health, toxicology, etc.)
- Successful candidates are expected to have a strong academic record in instruction and mentoring, and a disciplinary background linking environmental health, aging, cognitive aging, dementia, or neurodegenerative disease.
- 1 year of postdoctoral training, relevant professional positions or teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level (optional/desired).
