Position Summary The College of Engineering at the University of Georgia invites applicants for a 9‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position within the School of Chemical, Materials, and Biomedical Engineering (CMB) to begin January 1, 2026. The position will be expected to perform a full‑time effort of 55% research, 40% instruction, and 5% service. The successful candidate will develop next‑generation biocompatible medical devices that resist clinical complications such as thrombosis, infection, and immune response.
The role requires interdisciplinary research in cardiovascular biomaterials, cell‑material interactions, endothelialization, and thromboinflammation, with applications to innovative device technologies.
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Establish an outstanding, internationally recognized research program.
- Foster and establish collaborations and partnerships within and outside the College of Engineering, and with industry.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Secure extramural funding to support research, and a companion graduate and postdoctoral training program.
Additional Requirements
Preferred candidate will hold a Ph.D. in an engineering discipline with interdisciplinary expertise in biomaterials, surface engineering, and translational medical device development. Competitive applicants will have a strong record of innovative research advancing technologies toward clinical applications, expertise in surface engineering, animal modeling, translational research, and a strong interest in commercialization and technology transfer.
