Position SummaryThe Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks to fill two Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Associate positions beginning in August 2026. Each position is funded by the NSF Geometry and Topology Research and Training Group (RTG), anticipated to be of two years duration, with summer support, and with the possibility of renewal for a third year. The RTG brings together students and researchers in algebraic geometry, geometric topology, and symplectic geometry.
Due to the requirements of the grant, the position is only open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Teaching duties are two courses per year. In addition, postdocs are expected to participate in the research life of the Department, including the pursuit of an original research program, and to demonstrate promise toward excellence in research and high quality teaching.
- Research in the Mathematics department, including the pursuit of an original research program (75% of time).

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, LicensureA Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in Mathematics or a related field is needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and CompetenciesApplicants should show promise of moving toward excellence in significant research related to the RTG focus, and in high quality teaching of university mathematics classes.
Physical DemandsThe postdoc will perform research in mathematics or a related area and teach classes. Work can be performed sitting or standing, involving communication via speaking, writing, or technology assistance.
