Position Summary

As a member of the Fanning Institute, the faculty member is responsible for securing, managing, and building a portfolio of client work that aligns with the vision and mission of the Fanning Institute. The faculty member provides consultation, facilitation, training, technical assistance, and applied research to clients on diverse leadership development needs. The faculty member provides services in alignment with the Institute’s mission and is a link between local communities and UGA expertise.

The Fanning Institute is comprised of a range of faculty and staff who work from the Institute’s office on the UGA Athens campus.

Associate Director Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director in implementing the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the Institute, including strategy, budgeting, personnel, marketing and communications, instruction and training, and research and evaluation.
  • Manage the Conflict Resolution and Youth Serving Programming team of faculty and program coordination staff and build project teams of faculty/staff to leverage Institute expertise on conflict resolution and youth‑serving client projects and initiatives.
  • Develop, manage, and expand a portfolio of work funded by grants, client contracts, and work agreements that aligns with the mission and vision of the Fanning Institute. Proactively seek funding, develop client relationships, coordinate with partners, and ensure all contractual deliverables are met.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with key Fanning Institute partners to identify and respond to client needs, develop innovative programs, and maintain service delivery.
  • Provide group and individual instruction, facilitation, mediation, and technical assistance both on and off campus.
  • Conduct effective project management by working collaboratively with other Fanning Institute personnel, following policy, procedures, and processes to develop budgets, agreements, and work products; identify additional client support needs; and maintain consistent workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with the UGA Minors on Campus policy, providing guidance to team members and volunteers for safe engagement with youth.
