Position SummaryThe Admissions Counselor on the Georgia Recruitment Team is responsible for providing services and answering questions for prospective students, families, and school counselors. The role serves as an effective member of the recruitment team, encouraging academically qualified, intellectually curious, and actively involved first‑year and transfer students to attend the University of Georgia.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Considerable knowledge of admissions policies and procedures.
- Considerable knowledge of recruitment, orientation planning, and counseling.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to communicate ideas effectively in writing and orally before large groups.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble and organize data, and prepare reports.
Lift 35 lbs. and drive to complete job‑related duties. Stand or sit for long periods of time.
Duties & Responsibilities- Application File Reading (40%)
- Fully participate in file reader training.
- Serve as a full‑time reader in the application file reading process, assisting in holistic review and scholarship award decisions.
- Take notes and read designated volumes to meet deadlines, including reviewing high school transcripts.
- Travel Territory Management (25%)
- Manage travel territory under the Associate Director for Access & Inclusion and Senior Associate Director for Marketing and Recruitment, with consultation from the Director of Admission.
- Use data to target schools within the territory and provide timely customer service to schools, counselors, students, and parents through virtual or in‑person events.
- Program & Initiative Support (20%)
- Assist in specific program(s) and/or initiatives, including development, planning, and directing projects aimed at recruiting a diverse and academically qualified student body.
- Support Access & Inclusion initiatives such as early engagement and college readiness programming for middle school students.
- Oversee daily workflow related to projects and their development.
- Customer Service & Counseling (15%)
- Serve as the primary counselor and facilitate campus visit experiences, both virtually and in person.
- Provide quality customer service and admissions counseling, delivering dynamic presentations and answering questions about admission and application processes.
- Act as a leader and resource for newer staff members and perform other assigned duties.
