Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics seeks highly‑qualified candidates to fill Limited‑Term Assistant Professor positions beginning August 2026. These non‑tenure‑track faculty are expected to teach either 3 four‑hour courses or 4 three‑hour courses per year, aligned with the department’s small‑class initiative at the Precalculus and Calculus I and II levels, where class size is capped at 20–23 students. Limited‑Term Assistant Professors are also expected to participate in the research life of the department, pursuing an original research program.

Faculty may be renewed annually for up to two (2) years; reappointment beyond the second year requires pre‑approval by the Provost.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Deliver 3–4 semester‑long courses per year, focused on Precalculus and Calculus I & II, maintaining small class sizes (20–23 students). Provide high‑quality instruction and assessment aligned with department standards.
  • Research: Develop and maintain a productive research agenda in mathematics or a related field, contributing to the department’s scholarly activities and securing external funding where possible.
  • Service: Participate in departmental meetings and service activities as required, supporting the department’s goals and mission.
Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D., or equivalent foreign degree, in Mathematics or a related field is required.
