Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of the Office of Animal Care and Use (OACU) and direct supervision of the OACU Assistant Director, the Office of Animal Care and Use Coordinator (OACU Coordinator) ensures a high‑quality animal care and use program that reflects the University of Georgia’s commitment to humane and responsible animal‑based research and teaching. The primary responsibility is to ensure that all animal research is conducted humanely to protect animal welfare and meet stakeholder expectations, and that the institution complies with state, local, and federal regulations, while ensuring efficient and high‑quality performance.

Specific responsibilities include reporting to and working with the Director and Assistant Director, overseeing the daily OACU operations, and managing special projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
  • A broad knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques involved in animal‑based research compliance, as well as a deep understanding of oversight agency regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to animal‑based research compliance.
  • Excellent demonstrated skills in written communication.
  • Attention to detail, preferably with experience editing documents.
