Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
- Experience in custodial services, facilities operations, or building services.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred due to departmental needs.
- Experience designing adult learning content and hands‑on training programs.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, chemical safety, and custodial equipment.
- Experience using digital training tools, e‑learning, or multimedia development.
The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive training programs that ensure Building Services employees are fully equipped to perform their duties safely, efficiently, and in accordance with UGA standards. This position supports new-hire onboarding, ongoing skills development, safety compliance, custodial best practices, standardized operating procedures, and professional development initiatives across all Building Services teams.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies- Knowledge of custodial standards, equipment, cleaning chemicals, and industry best practices.
- Ability to teach both one-on-one and in-group settings.
- Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability to evaluate employee skill levels and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with staff at all levels.
- Frequent walking in buildings and training areas across campus.
- Ability to lift training equipment or supplies (up to 25–40 lbs).
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and custodial environments.
- Training activities may require bending, reaching, standing for extended periods, or demonstrating equipment use.
