Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Ecology or a related field.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or

    Competencies:

    Ph.D. in Ecology or related field with demonstrated scholarship, potential for externally funded research, expertise in ecosystem ecology, and a willingness to use diverse approaches (field, lab, computational/theoretical). Prior postdoc experience is preferred.
Position Summary

The Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia invites applications for four tenure-track positions in Ecosystem Ecology at the Assistant Professor level. These are academic year, 9-month appointments that would begin on either August 1, 2026 or August 1, 2027. We seek two colleagues with expertise in aquatic ecosystems (freshwater, marine, or wetland) and two with expertise in terrestrial ecosystems.

A candidate at the Associate Professor level may be considered for exceptional leadership. Successful candidates will build on the school’s legacy and collaborate with faculty across campus.

Appointees will have access to UGA field sites (e.g., Horseshoe Bend, Jones Center at Ichauway, Coweeta Hydrologic Lab, Savannah River Ecology Lab, Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, UGA Marine Institute, Whitehall Forest) and analytical facilities (Georgia Genomics and Bioinformatics Core, Center for Applied Isotope Studies, Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, Georgia Advanced Computing Resource Center). Collaboration and shared instrumentation are encouraged.

Duties/Responsibilities

The faculty member will contribute to teaching ecology courses at graduate and undergraduate levels, including mid- and large-enrollment courses for non-majors. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program that is nationally and internationally recognized.
