Position Details

Position Summary The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks highly-qualified candidates to fill Limited Term Assistant Professor positions beginning in August 2026. These positions are non-tenure-track and involve both teaching and research. Limited-term faculty may be renewed annually for up to two years; any request for reappointment beyond the second year requires pre-approval by the Provost. Teaching duties are the equivalent of 3 four-hour semester-long courses or 4 three-hour semester-long courses per year, aligned with the department’s small class initiative at the Precalculus and Calculus I and II levels (class size capped at 20–23 students).

Limited Term Assistant Professors are expected to participate in the research life of the department, including the pursuit of an original research program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D., or equivalent foreign degree, in Mathematics or a related field is required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies Applicants should demonstrate promise of excellence in conducting significant research in mathematics or related areas and potential for high-quality teaching in university mathematics classes.
