Position Summary

The County Extension Educator position is an exempt professional staff role with UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for managing the many resources offered by a county office. This work typically carries major responsibilities within a local County Extension office. It coordinates and distributes time as needed for the satisfactory delivery of the 4‑H and FACS (Family and Consumer Science) county programs. A high level of independent judgment is needed to effectively carry out the essential duties of the job and the incumbent is expected to manage both Extension program administration and 4‑H/FACS education delivery by developing techniques and procedures as appropriate.

The position is under the supervision of the county assigned 4‑H agent and FACS agent and County Extension Coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
  • Good communication skills – oral and written.
  • Ability to work with various populations.
  • Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4‑H program activities.
Physical Demands
  • Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, is needed to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, supplies, and demonstration materials, audio/visual equipment, etc.).
  • Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time.
  • Withstand various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.
