Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

The Program Coordinator supports the implementation of Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science program objectives by coordinating academic, college preparatory, and enrichment services for eligible participants. Responsibilities include designing and delivering standards-based instructional curriculum; supervising and evaluating part-time instructional and tutorial staff; administering and analyzing diagnostic and achievement assessments; and providing academic advising aligned with students' Individualized Education Plans (Student Educational Plans/SEPs) in collaboration with secondary school counselors.

Participant recruitment, selection, and retention; monitors academic progress and addresses identified academic needs; supports program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts; and compiles required documentation and data related to instructional services, participant outcomes, and federally mandated reporting requirements.

This position works primarily with middle and high school students.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

A sincere commitment to an interest in the educational needs of the target population and a proven track record in motivating youth from low-income, first-generation families, and the ability to stimulate positive activity of program staff are preferred. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged youth. Applicants who have succeeded in overcoming the disadvantages of circumstances like those of the population of the target area are strongly encouraged to apply.
