Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
The County Extension Educator is an exempt professional staff role with UGA Cooperative Extension managing the many resources offered by a county office. The incumbent coordinates and administers 4‑H and FACS (Family and Consumer Science) county programs, working under the supervision of the county’s 4‑H and FACS agents as well as the County Extension Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies- Good communication skills – oral and written.
- Ability to work with various populations.
- Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4‑H program activities.
- Physical activity including lifting and handling animals, supplies, and demonstration materials.
- Standing or sitting for variable periods.
- Exposure to seasonal weather during outdoor activities.
- Driving as required.
- Teach 4‑H Educational Learning programs in the classroom.
- Guide 4‑H participants in preparation for competitive events.
- Arrange transportation for participants to district, state, and other events; provide leadership during these events.
- Incorporate evaluation results and feedback into future program planning.
- Publicize programs and workshops to local and nearby communities.
- Maintain office inventory of supplies supporting the 4‑H program.
- Participate in staff conferences and share ideas to promote teamwork.
- Use up‑to‑date research data to guide program development and teaching under GA 4‑H mandates.
- Conduct in‑school club meetings delivering curriculum aligned with Georgia Professional Standards.
- Identify, recruit, train, and supervise 4‑H volunteers; assist volunteers in completing Chaperone Training.
- Manage volunteer‑led programs such as Archery, Horse Club, BB, and Livestock Show teams.
- Produce reports to stakeholders via electronic media, meetings, and printed documents.
- Submit accurate reports on GA counts, 4‑H enrollment, and district office operations.
- Ensure all duties follow the University Cooperative Extension Equal Opportunity plan.
- Maintain general office operations: answer phone, process mail, distribute publications, greet visitors, file documents.
- Attend assigned 4‑H events as directed by district personnel.
- Other duties as assigned by Lead 4‑H Agent and County Coordinator.
