The County Extension Educator position is an exempt professional staff role with UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for managing the resources offered by a county office. This role coordinates and distributes time as needed for the satisfactory delivery of the 4‑H and FACS county programs. A high level of independent judgment is needed to manage both Extension program administration and 4‑H / FACS education delivery by developing techniques and procedures as appropriate under the supervision of the county 4‑H agent, FACS agent, and County Extension Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent
- Good communication skills – oral and written.
- Ability to work with various populations.
- Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4‑H program activities.
- Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, needed to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, supplies, demonstration materials, audio/visual equipment, etc.).
- Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time.
- Withstand various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties.
- Teach 4‑H Educational Learning programs in the classroom.
- Direct 4‑H’ers in preparation for 4‑H competitive events including project achievement, judging teams, etc.
- Transport or arrange transportation of 4‑H’ers to various district and state events and, if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events.
- Incorporate results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementation.
- Publicize programs and workshops offered in local county or nearby counties to clientele.
- Maintain office inventory of office supplies and materials to support the 4‑H program.
- Regularly participate in staff conferences and share ideas among all co‑workers, leaders, district staff, and specialists to promote teamwork.
- Utilize current research data and information on emerging issues in program development and teaching as mandated by GA 4‑H.
- Conduct in‑school club meetings and deliver the prepared curriculum that meets state (Georgia Professional Standards) guidelines.
- Identify, recruit, train, and help supervise 4‑H volunteers in planning, teaching, and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4‑H programs.
- Assist interested volunteers in completing the 4‑H Chaperone Training.
- Manage volunteer‑led programs such as the Archery Team, Horse Club, BB Team, and Livestock Show Teams under guidance of the 4‑H Agent and County Coordinator.
- Make reports to appropriate clientele, staff members, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, and public officials through electronic mass media, personal contacts, and/or group meetings.
- Submit accurate and complete reports in a timely manner in GA Counts, 4‑H enrollment, and the District office.

- Regularly participate in staff conferences.
- Process or develop adequate computer skills to enhance communication to the public and Extension.
- Assist staff with day‑to‑day operations of Cooperative Extension county office by answering phone, processing mail, distributing publications, greeting visitors, filing documents, etc. (when needed).
- Attend 4‑H events as assigned by the 4‑H Agent, County Coordinator, or District Personnel.
- Other duties as assigned by Lead 4‑H Agent and County Coordinator.
